For United Empire Loyalists, that hunger for knowledge may take the form of genealogical studies, searching for historical fact or simply learning more about the lives of our Loyal ancestors. Sharing knowledge is the focus of education and education is the first step towards understanding the world around us and how we relate to it. Knowledge is power and education is a process of empowerment. Celebrating the lives and accomplishments of our ancestors, we should be mindful that their efforts played a significant role in the creation of a new country, Canada. United Empire Loyalist history is Canadian history just as Canadian history cannot be told without recalling United Empire Loyalist history. As the international community grows ever closer via the medium you're using at this moment, the opportunity to reach out and share knowledge regarding the UELAC and Canada is fully upon us. This medium is more than a mere convenience - it is an tool which needs to be included in the list of resources used to enlighten and inform those who might otherwise be un- or misinformed about the motivation and history of the United Empire Loyalists. Grand River Branch strives to teach others a part of Canadian history which might not always receive the attention it deserves... as well as using its Education / Outreach programmes to attract potential UEL members within its service area. Grand River Branch also supports heritage, historical and academic organizations which inform others - and celebrate - Canadian history and culture. Toward that end, Grand River Branch fully supports the UELAC Scholarship and encourages students of Canadian History... particularly Loyalist History... to continue their studies in the post-graduate disciplines. To contribute to this visionary initiative, please contact the UELAC Dominion Office.
